Facebook has been making waves recently, and not in a positive way. Ever since Facebook decided to force Facebook Messenger down everyone’s throats, there’s been a huge upheaval. From posts on my own Newsfeed, to rants from my close friends, and strangers on the internet, it seems that not many people are happy about this change.
And what makes this worse is the fact that Facebook Messenger doesn’t have a logout button like the original Facebook app: once you’re in, you’re in for life. That’s why today, we’ll show you the roundabout way to logout of Facebook Messenger.
How to log out from Facebook Messenger
To log out of Facebook Messenger, you need to go into the settings of your Android device.
- First, close the app if you have it open, and get rid of it in your recent apps list, otherwise this trick won’t work.
- In Settings, scroll down to the Apps or Application Manager, and scroll down until you see Messenger.
- Tap on this, and clear data.
Now when you go back to tap on Messenger in your app drawer, you should see that it will not log you in automatically. That being said, your profile name will be there, so that means you can just tap on it to start Messenger without even signing in. If you want to completely log out, so that your name doesn’t even show up, then you need to sign out of the Facebook app as well, since Messenger is now completely integrated. If you don’t mind having your name there, ready to be signed-in, and someone else wants to use your phone to check their Facebook messages, they just need to tap on ‘Switch Account’’ to sign into their own account.
